How do summer camps work?
- Most camps run Monday to Friday in the AM (9-12) or PM (1-4) or Full Day (9-4)
- Student:Instructor ratio is generally 7:1 at most and usually 5:1 or less
- Camps are designed for kids and teens 4th Grade and above, except for Junior camps which
are designed for 2nd & 3rd Graders and are 2 hours long instead of 3 hours.
- Junior Camps have optional extended daycare for 1 hour prior or following the session in
which we will do games and crafts, rounding out the class to a full 3 hours.
- Boys are welcome at all camps and we also have a dedicated Boys Only camp
- If the schedule does not work for you, please give us a call, there may be other options
available and we often add new classes as the program fills up.
- To register for a camp, call us at (925) 283-7396 or email info@sewnow.com
Cancellation Policy
Booking a camp requires a $75 deposit. If you decide to cancel your camp more than 14 days before the start of camp, we will provide a full refund. If you cancel between 7 and 14 days, we will provide a store credit. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of camp, your deposit is forfeited.
What camp should I take?
A. If you are new to machine sewing.
The best camp to take is either the half-day sewnow! 101 camp or the full-day Beginner Fashion Sewing camp - these are for kids and teens who are new to machine sewing and it gets them off to a perfect start. If kids are entering 2nd or 3rd grade, they should take the Junior 100 class which covers similar skills with shorter classes.
B. If you have taken sewnow! 101 or equivalent.
If you've graduated from sewnow! 101 or have solid sewing experience with all the basics, the right camp for you is sewnow! 201 camp or Summer Fun 223 Beachwear camp. If you have graduated from 101 and want to take 301 or the Summer Fun 232 Quilting camp which have 201 as a prerequisite, you can take our 201 Sewing Skills Workshop which will cover the 201 skills needed for these camps.
C. If you have taken sewnow! 201 or equivalent.
If you've graduated from sewnow! 201 (camp or class) or have equivalent experience (i.e. know how to use the serger/overlocker, lay out a pattern on grain, make hems, buttonholes, and waistbands or have taken our 201 Sewing Skills Workshop) then you are ready for a variety of camps. sewnow! 301 would be the next logical step for skills progression - making a sundress, or if you have taken sewnow! 301, sewnow! 401 would be the next skills progression - making a hooded sweatshirt. You may also be interested in the Summer Fun Beachwear or Quilting camps.
