Thanks for your understanding and compliance with the above - we are all really enjoying a fantastic, creative, modified, Camp 2020 program!
FashionKit 3/4 Day Camp is for Kids and Teens 4th Grade and up for all skill levels. We will have instructors in the room to work with beginners as well as advanced/intermediate students. This year we will spend more time outdoors incorporating tie-dye, hand stitching, and fashion sketching in our outdoor studio.
For intermediate to advanced sewists who have FK 101 or similar sewing machine foundation skills. 4th Grade and up. Work from home on projects from one of our FashionKit curated boxes selected after you register for camp. We will ship everything you need or make it available for curbside pick up. Using a unique combination of our digital instructions, the Zoom meetings app, and a special camera desk clamp we loan you, sewnow! instructor(s) will work with you remotely to create your capsule collection. Camp runs from 9:30 - 11:30am each day and includes after camp 'Sewing Missions' if you want to continue creating after the scheduled session. Virtual camp is designed to be an independent fashion experience that does not require parent supervision during the Zoom meetings. One week sewing machine rentals are available as a separate product.
All of our FashionKit programs are an immersive Fashion experience with content designed to expose campers to the complete fashion design process from initial concept to finished collection. Each week will vary in content to offer variety to those enrolled in multiple weeks of camp. FK camps are great for kids in fourth grade and up and teens. Beginners will start by making our fan favorite Tote Bag to learn foundation Skills. Designers learn about budgeting and planning in the sewnow! ProShop where they 'shop' for their patterns, fabric, and notions to complete their projects. Sourced and curated from the Fashion District in Los Angeles, our fabrics are on-trend and deliver great results. All supplies are included with your camp registration.
In addition to sewing your fashions, there are lots more creative activities during the week as designers:
Learn fashion illustration basics and design a capsule collection that expresses who you are as a designer
FK beginners learn how to operate the sewing machine, safely use the iron, sketch and illustrate designs. Introduction to serger skills are taught and you learn how to use our FashionKit patterns instructions so you can sew at home once the fun of camp is over.
Once you have learned foundation skills, work on any of the projects from ever expanding FashionKit library of patterns, and customize them using the innovative xyz zones. Work at your own pace - most campers complete 2 - 5 projects in a week of 1/2 day programming. Registration includes 24/7 access to FK photographic and video instructions for all of the patterns you work on during camp. During camp, instructors will guide you to the best projects for your skill level. If you'd like to learn more about our amazing sewing patterns, visit fashionkit.co
